What is the best small-room air-purifier? I'd like to spend between 50-100$.? I need to get a good air purifier with HEPA filter for my small apartment. What is the best low-cost high quality air purifier for that? I'd like to spent between 50-100$, but I would not mind spending as much as $150 for something of high quality. Try Holmes (the above link) I have the mini tower and it works great for me. I also have a desk top honeywell that works in my small office space. I have allergy problems and these have helped me out a great deal. The honeywell I picked up in Home Depot and it was resonably priced. I think all together I spent about $100 for them. Also I noticed that I don't smell the kitchen either. Now that fresh fish smell is gone and it helps to eliminate some other odors as well." mr.answerman replied: "The ionic breeze is garbage. there are several models with a washable or vacuumable HEPA filter. The hepa filter is the gold standard for cleaning air. Companies that use clean rooms use them, as do hospitals. You may want to check Ebay. I like the idea of finding one that also employs UV-C light to kill off spores in the air. I saw a Target they have one made by Filtrete that looks good, but you have to buy replacement filters for about 20. bucks."
wastingtime replied: "I have the ionic breeze. It does create an ozone smell, but I don't find it offensive or enough to really think about. Also, I don't believe it is "filtering" the air, rather it is just grabbing up the particles it happens to come into contact with. It is noiseless when it is clean and makes a little vibrating or humming sound when it is dirty. It is pretty easy to clean.
I would NEVER recommend that someone buy this product for the ridiculous price advertised on TV. I bought it from a co-worker who has a huge room with cathedral ceilings. He was sucked in by the infomercial, but didn't get the results he expected. I bought it from him for $50.00 and was happy with the results in my small bedroom. I did feel that it made a difference."

If your symptoms continue and still want an air purifier, get one with a HEPA filter. Avoid those that use electrostatics (such as the IonicBreeze) or ozone. Ozone is a known trigger of asthma and airway irritant. Incidentally, ozone is one component of smog. The best I've found so far is the Holmes tower 'hepa type' air purifier at KMart for about 69.00.

It says it only fits a (13X13) room .. the room I want to use this for is a school classroom that is atleast 20X20. If i put this purifier in a spot i believe the air is at its worse, will it work for a 13X13 area from that point forward or does this product become completely useless when its in a room any larger then (13X13).
